Cádiz

Cádiz is the capital of the province of Cádiz in the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain with 130,561 inhabitants (2006). The city rises on a spit of land that juts out into the bay of Cádiz, which is a small part of the Gulf of Cádiz.

Barrio El Pópulo, La Viña and Santa María stand in stark contrast to the skyscrapers of modern New Town. The cityscape is characterized by many small squares.

The inhabitants of Cádiz are called Gaditanos.
